Having spent nearly all his life aboard one ship or another, Uraj has developed any number of peculiar affectations, not the least of which are his speech patterns. Anyone who meets him is quick to note that he seems a bit out of place in the modern age, as his attire, like his way of speaking, is that of a bygone era; more fitting to the golden age of piracy than to life aboard a modern starship. Nonetheless, his character, while rather odd, seems to be genuine, and not an act. In truth, he has indeed spent much of his life aboard the wooden sailing vessels of the past, plying the balmy seas of his homeworld. Uraj truly is a throwback to a bygone age. Or rather, he is a throw-forward. You see, Uraj was born many hundreds of years ago. He isn't able to explain what happened exactly, and seems reluctant to speak of it, saying only, if asked, that "There was this storm" and that it left him shipwrecked in time. Always the resourceful wolf, Uraj has adapted quickly and well to life among the stars. To him, the people of the present seem a bit overly trusting and, well, a resourceful wolf such as he isn't one to question good fortune. Using skills learned in a life of seafaring trade, he has been able to "turn quite a pretty penny", as he would say, by plying the space-lanes as he once did the oceans of the past. Life is an endless adventure to him and he seems content to make the best of whatever it throws his way. |
