What do you get by combining styles? Try it. Many interesting graphic effects can be achieved with a mix of techniques. This example illustrates that you can mix and match styles. However, for the sake of your project be careful to do so in a clear manner that enhances the pencils and reproduces well.
In inking one must be usually be slow, precise, and patient. If pencilling is fast and lively, like Karate -- full of life and energy -- then inking is like Aikido: slow and methodical, but still very alive. Remember: one fixed line is boring; many line weights give more interest; but it's contrast which generates the most visual interest of all.
Finally, remember to breathe normally; make sure your seat is comfortable; take it slow and steady; and practice, practice, practice. I inked draftsman-style until I felt that I did okay with it, and it took me four to five years before I felt I'd mastered brush inking, and was ready to show that work professionally.
